Yoga & the Art of Japanese Living with Andrea Marcum
With Andrea Marcum
December 1 - 9, 2026
Step into the quiet magic of rural Japan, where misty mountains, traditional villages, and centuries-old rituals invite you to slow down and savor each moment. As the leaves begin to change and the air turns crisp, this journey weaves together cultural immersion and deep restoration—offering a window into Japan’s timeless way of life.
Beginning in Kyoto, you’ll explore sacred temples, participate in a traditional tea ceremony, and experience the subtle beauty of Zen practices. From there, we venture into the countryside—visiting thatched-roof villages, connecting with local artisans, and embracing the rhythms of rural life in regions like Kyotango. Enjoy nourishing meals rooted in longevity traditions, unwind in soothing onsens (natural hot springs), and experience the grounding practice of forest bathing. Our journey continues to Kanazawa, a city rich in art, gardens, and preserved cultural heritage, before returning to Kyoto for a final immersion in Japan’s refined traditions—including a special evening with a geisha.
Throughout the retreat, Andrea’s signature yoga practices offer a space to turn inward as you expand outward into adventure. Think of your yoga mat as your magic carpet—guiding you through a Japanese journey of beauty, presence, and discovery that you’ll carry with you long after you return home.
